The MSc in Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy is a 12-month postgraduate programme offered by The Glasgow School of Art in collaboration with the Anatomy Facilities at the University of Glasgow.

This programme is accredited by the Institute of Medical Illustrators.

This programme provides an ideal opportunity for enhancement of research into human anatomy, diagnostics, medical communication & education, simulation, and visualisation. You will split your time equally between two top-ranked institutions, being in direct contact with experienced creative technologists, researchers and anatomists. Your training will focus on two key areas – digital anatomical reconstruction and 3D interactive technologies applied to medical visualisation, and practical human anatomy.

This programme is accessible to applicants with a good Honours degree or equivalent in life sciences, medical or biomedical sciences; computer sciences, biomedical engineering, health informatics, medical illustration, 3D design, product design, digital media, digital arts, 3D modelling and animation or equivalent professional practice.

High calibre graduates from other disciplines may be considered if they are able to demonstrate an interest and ability in the field of medical visualisation.

Our Approach

This programme offers the opportunity to develop (1) a solid technical skillset through studio practice on volumetric visualisation, interactive development, and 3D modelling and animation techniques; and (2) a strong theoretical and practical knowledge in human anatomy.

The programme is structured in 3 stages: (1) Medical Visualisation; (2) human anatomy; and (3) self-directed research under the supervision of experienced creative technologists, researchers and anatomists.
